A Festive Gathering of Friends

February in Sonoma
The market hosted a private party tonight for a group of local friends who wanted to have a gathering to let their hair down and share a good meal together. It has been ridiculously warm and gorgeous in Sonoma for the last few days, and the blossoms are starting to grace the branches of the trees. I’m finding it a little surreal to be experiencing spring in February, but I’m not complaining. The warm weather seemed to have given our group a case of spring fever, because there was much laughter and even more hugs all around. Here’s a peek at the menu from tonight:
Starter:
Butternut squash-chipotle bisque with diced green apple, toasted pepitas and creme fraiche
Or
Arugula salad with yellow and chiogga beets, candied walnuts and goat cheese
Entree:
Farro risotto with wild mushrooms, asparagus, Parmesan, poached egg and truffle oil
Or
Smoked pork ragu over creamy polenta with spicy braised greens
Dessert:
Chocolate brioche bread pudding with whipped cream and dark chocolate drizzle
or
Strawberry rhubarb biscuit bread pudding with whipped cream
I was thrilled to be working with asparagus and rhubarb for the first time this season. Expect to see more in the next few weeks. Delish.
