This is what has been tickling my tongue this month

I live in one of the most interesting food cities in the world. Keeping up with the throngs of delicious and interesting places to eat that open here each month could be a full time job. With the warmer weather, and the impending move to another coast, I’ve been trying to take advantage the food mecca that I live in even more aggressively than usual. Here is a glance at some of the month’s highlights from my dining adventures. The list, by the way, has be heavily influenced by the Sifty Fifty, Sam Sifton’s current favorite spots. My goal is to try to get through most of them by August.

Balaboosa-Modern Isreali food in Nolita, very well executed and I love the comfortable rustic-elegant room.
John Dory Oyster Bar-April Bloomfield’s second take at this concept, more casual this time. Knee weakening scrambled eggs and lobster on a parker house roll and fantastic fresh East and West coast oysters
Fort Defiance-Finally tried the muffeletta sandwhich at this wonderful Red Hook bar/cafe and it was worth the wait. The food is really solid but the cocktails are even better.
Madangsui-excellent Koreatown lunch spot. The short ribs and spicy octopus bibimbob were memorable as were all the tasty pickled things they brought us.
