July in the Roof Garden

Here's a little update on the roof garden. I just harvested my first big-ish crop so things are starting to heat up. The zucchini are doing pretty well and I have dark and light green kinds. A few bright red tomatoes have popped up but one of my plants is distressing me with its yellow leaves. There have been a few tomatoes that have grown dark bottoms while still on the vine. I'm still trying to figure that out. I suspect that we packed the boxes a little full. Its so hard to imagine in spring what things are going to look like come July. The cucumber and zucchini plants are trying to take over the whole deck. The lettuce is doing well, hiding underneath the towering plants, and my basil is huge and getting ready to sing the basil song.
